GameZone.com is a video game news and review website that offers daily information about popular video games on the market. The site had grown considerably over the past 13 years, and the people who run the site felt it was time to make some needed upgrades. They were looking to make improvements to performance by replacing the existing MS Access database that powered most of the site, as well as the SMF-powered forum. They needed a more powerful and flexible content management system and felt ExpressionEngine would be the perfect fit.
We were provided with a basic concept of what Gamezone was looking for and we worked closely with their staff to adapt and improve the designs we were giving to accommodate the content they will eventually be importing, and the needs of a web- and game-savvy audience. The site is quite complex, with content areas for blogs, reviews, previews, products, cheats, downloads, news, forums, and more. On the development side of things, we’ve incorporated some of the EE community’s hottest add-ons, like Playa, Tracker and FieldFrame, and developed several add-ons of our own especially for this site.
It’s been a challenging project to work on and we’re excited to see all our hard work fully realized in the finished Gamezone site.
