Our favorite news client, Truthdig, just received three nominations in the 11th annual Webby awards. Three nominations is pretty rarified air, as you can see from the press release:
The BBC received the most nominations (5). Other multiple nominees include NPR (4), NYTimes.com (4), Salon.com (4), Flickr (3), JonathanYuen.com (3), LinkedIn (3), The Onion (3), TruthDig (3), WeFeelFine.org (3), and Yahoo! (3).
Truthdig is nominated in the categories of Politics, Political Blog, and the one we’re really proud of, News, where it’s up against some realyl heavy hitters: the BBC, Salon, NPR and Reuters. I would say that Reuters budget probably is about 80,000% bigger than Truthdig’s, and this nomination is a wonderful reflection of the fact that you can do excellent news online without the budget of big media (if you hire Hop Studios!)
I was tempted to just write a five-word blog post about this, because the Webbys are known for allowing the winners to say only five words. I guess attention spans really are shorter online….
And no, I’m not just saying that because I’m writing a blog entry about them—we really do love working on Truthdig, and think that they do amazing work.
