With a dream to embark on a transformative journey aboard the good ship Good Soul, this couple and kids have embraced a life of simplicity, adventure, and connection. Through immersive experiences in nature and with diverse cultures, Good Soul’s crew is growing as individuals and as a family.
Hop Studios set up a brand new Wix site for this family at sea to easily share their travels with others—a journal as they build resilience, curiosity, empathy, and lifelong memories.
Services Provided
After two years of preparation that culminated in selling their home and purchasing a boat they named Good Soul, Carla and Stephen embarked on the adventure of a lifetime—sailing around the oceans with their family. They needed a website to document their journey, share their stories, and connect with fellow travellers and the people they’d be leaving behind. Hop Studios was ready to support them by getting their site set up in Wix.
We started by securing their domain and choosing a custom-built Wix theme that balanced style with functionality. Wix’s flexible platform was perfect for a site that would need to be easier to keep updated, and that could evolve as their adventures unfolded. We also added a custom favicon to give Good Soul Sailing a polished, recognizable look in browser tabs and bookmarks—the little details matter whether you’re out at sea or off in cyberspace.
Since Carla and Stephen would be managing the site from some pretty remote places—literally the middle of the ocean—we made sure they could handle everything themselves. We trained them to:
- Update and modify content
- Change form delivery addresses
- Organize blog categories
- Manage the navigation menu
Now they can confidently keep the site fresh and current, even while sailing to remote destinations, and we’re always just an email away if they need us.
Some unique features that bring the adventure to life on their brand new site include:
- Travel Blog: The personal blog acts as their digital logbook, where the family shares stories and updates as they explore new places. We set up an automated subscriber notification system, so friends, family, and followers never miss a post.
- Interactive Map: Visitors can follow the family’s journey in real-time through a dynamic, auto-updating interactive map, offering an engaging way to track their adventures and see exactly where Good Soul is exploring next so folks at home feel connected to the adventure as it happens.
