Gawain Weaver provides conservation treatment and consulting services to museums, galleries, collectors, historical societies, libraries, and private clients. His site also offers a range of educational opportunities and products, including workshop and sample sets.
We’ve enjoyed a long working relationship with Gawain Weaver, tackling both large and small improvements to his website, enhancing the public-facing experience and improving the ExpressionEngine CMS that powers it behind the scenes.
Services Provided
We partnered with Gawain Weaver to modernize their ExpressionEngine website through strategic CMS upgrades and redesign. The project focused on performance improvements, enhanced functionality, and improved usability for both visitors and administrators.
Gawain Weaver’s conservation and restoration work focuses on breathing new life into historical documents and fine art photographs, making them shine as they once did. Hop Studios takes a similar approach to website maintenance work: helping established sites run like new again through thoughtful upgrades, performance tuning, and improved usability and functionality.
When Gawain first came to us, they had a beautifully designed website, but it wasn’t effectively promoting the wonderful services he offers. Gawain was ready for a redesign focused on improving functionality, better content presentation, and enhanced front-end and back-end usability. We made the site fully responsive and mobile-friendly, broadening his reach to a wider audience. From there, we focused on performance by implementing caching, minimizing scripts and stylesheets, and optimizing image handling to deliver significant performance improvements and faster site speed. Faster load times also support SEO and improve the overall visitor experience.
Over time, websites can become outdated and benefit from strategic upgrades to improve performance, functionality, and usability. We’ve upgraded Gawain Weaver’s ExpressionEngine site, taking it from EE v1.7 all the way to EE7. The upgrade was smooth and low-disruption: we updated existing add-ons, removed several that have since been replaced by built-in EE features, and improved the admin usability for day-to-day content management. The site now runs on a modern, well-maintained foundation that supports his growing educational programs and ongoing conservation services.
We’ll be ready when Gawain Weaver’s site is due for its next ExpressionEngine upgrade, continuing to support performance improvements, functionality, and long-term website maintenance.
