Hop Studios is fortunate to have brought on board our latest hire, the multi-career Chris Basnight.
Hailing from Raleigh, North Carolina, he was until recently the owner of Imp Designs, LLC. Imp Designs started in 1999 as the graphic design arm of a printing company where Chris was the pre-press operator and graphic designer. In 2002 he built his first website there, and in 2006 Imp Designs discovered the joys of ExpressionEngine and became an ExpressionEngine-focused shop. He has built numerous websites over many years using ExpressionEngine and still finds it an exceptionally flexible and secure platform. Chris’s new position at Hop has given Imp Designs clients a stable new home.
One of Chris’ previous career paths was as a professional musician. He played bass guitar with Automatic Slim, a regional touring band that played throughout the southeast between 1991 and 1998. Although not currently playing with a band, he spends as much time as possible haunting the various music venues in and around the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. He is always up for live music regardless of genre. He’s prone to (obsessed with?) buying band t-shirts and has a closet full of black tees—much to the chagrin of his wife.
Chris married his true love Christine in 1981 and shares his home with two personality-packed cats named Sammy and Sheldon.
