This Mountain Life is a riveting examination of human passion set high in the peaks of British Columbia. This feature documentary examines those for whom the draw of the mountains shapes their entire lives.
This Mountain Life film was created by Grant Baldwin and Jenny Rustemeyer of Peg Leg Films.
Filmmakers Grant Baldwin and Jenny Rustemeyer came to us with a very specific vision and goal for the This Mountain Life website. While the website was to be a clear companion to the film, it also needed to be a rich visual experience in its own right. Gorgeous wide-screen photos and videos from the film are used liberally across the site, which features a blog and film clips, as well as the details about the characters and production.
In 2018, much more will be coming to the site, from backcountry trip planning, tips on mountain preparedness, and a shop where screening licenses and DVDs of the film will be sold. Film content aside, the site is an experience unto itself, with content related to mountain culture and personal passion not explored in the documentary.
This was one of Hop’s first projects using the CraftCMS and its e-commerce module, CraftCommerce. Thanks to the highly flexible tools in Craft, editors can easily hide and display content as it is necessary not just on a page-by-page basis, but right down to individual content blocks on each page. Even navigation elements can be disabled, and returned later. Edits can be previewed live before they are published, which makes experimentation easy.
