With so many sites continuously being updated, StarVista LIVE requires a dedicated team to help them keep up with the updates so they can focus on the jam-packed trips.

Hop Studios’ first step was upgrading StarVista’s main site’s content management system, ExpressionEngine, from EE2 to the newest version, EE7. EE7 has a modernized user interface and performance improvements, such as site speed and security. In addition, it has improved multisite management, saving StarVista and Hop Studios time and energy when making continuous updates.

Along with the CMS upgrade, we upgraded several add-ons, such as Deeploy Helper, Structure, and Detour Pro, to their latest versions. Keeping their backend up-to-date with current software provides StarVista with the most reliable and efficient performance for all their sites. We also migrated their server to Liquid Web to complement the improved performance of CMS and add-ons.

One issue that StarVista LIVE constantly encountered was an overwhelming number of spam form submissions. Receiving over 1,000 spam submissions was annoying, clogged up their inbox, and wasted the team’s time trying to wade through all the junk. To help reduce the number of spam submissions, Hop implemented a honeypot field that is invisible to real humans. When this field was filled out, it would only send the form to a thank you page, but it would not push the submission through to the email. While this update did solve the spam problem, StarVista has recently replaced their forms with embedded forms that are better integrated with their customer support framework.
