Hop Studios has assisted OpenMedia in optimizing its online engagement presence through a migration to EE, accessibility improvements, and a homepage refresh.

At Hop Studios, we take pride in our partnership with OpenMedia, an organization dedicated to preserving an open, affordable, and surveillance-free Internet. We support their journey to create community-driven campaigns that engage, educate, and empower individuals to protect the digital world that we at Hop Studios cherish—and we know we’re in good company.

Our collaboration with OpenMedia began with the migration of their content management system from Drupal 7 to ExpressionEngine in the spring of 2020. After updating to the latest version of ExpressionEngine in April 2022, we ensured OpenMedia’s digital infrastructure remained cutting-edge, enabling them to better serve their cause.

For the Internet to be truly open, it has to be accessible to all. To ensure OpenMedia’s website adhered to the highest accessibility standards, we conducted a thorough accessibility audit in 2021. We identified areas that required improvement and implemented the recommended fixes. Both the home page and the article page underwent careful adjustments to enhance accessibility, guaranteeing that OpenMedia’s message reaches and resonates with as wide an audience as possible.

In the spring of 2022, OpenMedia redesigned their home page to evolve engagement with their mission and campaigns. Hop Studios worked from OpenMedia’s source design files to code and implement the home page refresh and integrate it into ExpressionEngine. We made sure the new page still met accessibility requirements, and tested in multiple browsers to ensure that it looked and worked properly for all visitors.

At Hop Studios, we are honoured to have partnered with OpenMedia. By leveraging our technical prowess and creative ingenuity, we have helped OpenMedia on their mission to safeguard the Internet and advocate for a digital landscape that champions openness, affordability, and privacy.
