In late 2019, CMEPlanet came to Hop Studios for help adding paid course offerings on their site, and to work through the various user interface issues that needed to be updated to accommodate paid coursework. Although CartThrob (an ecommerce shopping cart tool for the content management system ExpressionEngine) was in place and in use, CMEPlanet needed assistance getting a Stripe payment gateway set up and tested to handle the paid courses. We worked together to plan out the transaction process, including researching the best way to handle taxes and revenue splitting.

In addition to incorporating these new courses into existing site pages, we also built functionality for members to access their purchase history and receipts.

Finally, we revised existing quiz and certificate logic to ensure those who completed courses could easily access their certification, and site admins could more easily manage course evaluations. We spent some additional time reworking the way course testing requirements impacted what should be shown on particular pages of the site, to reduce visitor confusion and make the site easy to use.
